Thoughts on Lost

Some randomly collected thoughts on the most recent episodes of Lost.

Warning: Spoilers

Feb 15 Episode

CNN says the Army Sgt holding his daughter’s photo was a photo of a young Kate, and that the symbols on the clock in the hatch were Egyptian hieroglyphics spelling “death” or “brings death”

“Henry Gale” is lying. For starters, “Henry Gale” is the name of Dorothy’s uncle from The Wizard of Oz series. Secondly, the Wizard of Oz himself (Professor Marvel) was originally from Nebraska, and ended up in Oz when he was caught up in a storm while flying in his balloon. It’s a lie.

I was a big fan of the Purgatory theory with “Lost” describing the unknowingparticipants’ spiritual state rather than physical state (dead). Two groups of “others” – one that takes away the saved souls (and the children that don’t require redemption) and the hopelessly “lost” that refuse to face their sins and spend eternity on the island (Zeke’s group). Great catches with Owl Creek story and the music by Glen Miller and Patsy Cline who both died in plane crashes (presumably).

Previous Episodes

Since Libby was in the tail section while Hurley was seated up front, there would have been no way for him to have stepped on her foot as he boarded the plane, which was her explanation. What’s her game? Could Libby, a psychologist, have worked at the mental hospital where Hurley had been treated? Is she part of the Dharma Initiative “experiment,” studying reactions from the inside? And, as Libby observed, the washer-dryer in the hatch is much newer than the rest of the furnishings, which sharp-eyed viewers also had noticed. So is there a way that items (and people) continue to move to and from the island?

As “Zeke” (the scraggly-beared Other) was challenged by Jack, he yelled, “Bring ‘er out, Alex,” and showed Jack that they were holding Kate hostage. Who is Alex? Could it be the Frenchwoman’s daughter, who was kidnapped 16 years ago? Is she one of The Others? Is there more than one group of Others?

As Kate visits her adoptive father in an Army recruiting station, Sayid appears on a TV screen; some say he looks like a military prisoner. This type of sighting is reminiscent of the Season 1 episode in which Hurley appeared on Korean TV during Jin’s flashback. Very interesting considering this week’s revelation between her father and Sayid.

108 (the number of minutes on the countdown timer) is approximately the number of minutes some satellites take to circle Earth.

Okay that’s a good load of stuff, happy theorizing. =)

Dang dude,
That is a whole lot stuff.
I am sooooooooo glad I did not get into this show.
I honestly think I would not be able to handle the drama.

I will prolly wait for the DVD so I dont miss the excitement.
It was too much for me to wait a whole week for X-files.

Good catch on the heirogliphics. I’m still not sold on the whole “purgatory” angle, but it’s fun to theorize!

Didnt the writers already say that purgatory isnt the answer.  Also you should have sat with my wife and me, I was screaming “Heirogliphs!” Good times good times.

I would buy purgatory tho, really reminds me of Tombstone.

Very impressive.  I caught a few of those things.  I think that Libby worked in the hospital with Hurley or saw him on TV.  I don’t think she’s after him for his money though, since it has no value on the island.  I can’t wait to see how Sayid uses Charlie in this plot.

This is the best show ever!!!
