As soon as they can break this pesky iPod-iTMS-iPhone nonsense, the labels want to get back to dictating what you pay and how often you pay. The labels want to do business with people like Microsoft. Microsoft gets it: all the people who bought music using MSN music? They can buy it all over again at the Zune store.

I don’t buy that argument.  I mean, what are we supposed to do?  The article seems to suggest that we should buy DRM-ified music now so we won’t have to later?  It doesn’t exactly make sense.

I don’t think this article is saying that at all. The final paragraph begins with “Buy what you like, where you like.” - it is merely an informative perspective article.

Many people have complained that iTunes is overcharging for their music (in comparison to Amazon) and must be doing it to rip off the customers. Reg Braithwaite brings it all into perspective for the reality behind the prices.

That said, I mostly just loved the short little dig against Microsoft for the MSN Music vs. Zune Store debacle. The irony of “Microsoft Gets It” is just hilarious. =)

Yeah, that dig of “They get to buy the same music all over again at the Zune store” is priceless.  You’re probably right that the article wasn’t written to spur anyone to action, but instead was just intended to be informative.  I wonder though, what the author would view as a proper course of action?
