It’s interesting, but you’re right - nothing stands out. I’m expecting some bigger announcements...we’ll see!

I believe its a hoax. This one statement under iPhone—“Developers submit programs as source code” tells me that there is NO WAY Apple will really require source code from Developers. (Heck, Microsoft never required that.) IF Apple were to be that Draconian, all a Developer would have to do is then say: “Apple stole my intellectual property rights” and sue. The first time Apple tries to sell an idea that was submitted to them by a developer as source without compensating that Developer opens the doors for such protracted, nasty, legal battles I can’t believe that Apple would be so out of touch to demand this. Besides, Apple doesn’t need the source code.

Additional followup: Many developers license libraries from other companies. The developer may have full rights to the source of the purchased libraries, but usually does not have the right to distribute these libraries as source to a third party. If Apple is requiring Developers to surrender source, then Apple is requiring Developers to break a contractual agreement they may have with another by exposing their source. Apple doesn’t need to play this game.
All Apple has to do is run the object file through an extensive debugger to see if the program will harm the system. Apple does not need the source.

Not buying it.
They’ve already collapsed the two iPhone tiers once, why would they go through that again?
