faith, design, a relevant life

I am 27, christian, and married. I like distorted guitars, orange juice with some pulp, and movies with Tom Hanks. I currently live 30 minutes north of Seattle in Mill Creek with my beautiful wife, Danielle. This is my little contribution to the creative content flood that is the internet.

Faith

I was blessed with a christian home and loving family. I’ve been christian most of my life but fell into a self-serving life through high-school. Following graduation I came back to my savior and re-dedicated my life to the Lord. Now I continue living the day-to-day adventure of exploring, experimenting, and learning about my Creator and His creation.

I try to keep my faith fresh, real and genuine by constantly challenging my own beliefs and keeping an open mind. I also believe the greatest way I can live out my faith is to follow the example of Jesus with two simple ideas - love God and love people.

Design

I have a passion for creative arts and media. When I was 13, my dad gave me a copy of Photoshop. I’ve been creating ever since.

I tend to prefer the dirty / grungy look and I love doing CD covers, concert posters, promotional flyers, etc for bands. I also try to diversify my skills to excel at cleaner design that aims towards a wider age-range in addition to my pet project types of work.

Web standards are a big part of any web work that I do. Though my standards fanaticism has died down somewhat, it is still one of my top priorities in any design work I do. Somehow the combination of coding and designing is a total rush for me.

Life

I love movies. When I got my first real job and moved out of my parents house I barely made enough money to live. But every extra nickel and dime I could save went straight to building the DVD collection. It started simply with the special edition of Unbreakable and now reaches somewhere between 150-200 DVDs and growing.

I also love music. I used to play guitar for the band Blu Llama 2 (weird name, I know) which sadly broke up in the summer of 2004. Now I play for the worship band at my church - United Foursquare. I am hoping to join or form another band sometime in the near future if time so allows. I’m always looking to find new music though so if you have some let me know!

In recent years I’ve become an Apple fanboy. Currently, I’m sporting an 8gig iPhone and a white MacBook and my wife uses my Mac Mini and as her own iPhone as well. I also have an Apple TV and am planning to get a 24inch iMac soon.
